Meetings

The Canadian Society for the History of Medicine meets once a year in conjunction with Congress of the Social Sciences and the Humanities. Meetings are usually two-and-a-half days, from a Friday to Sunday noon in late May or early June.

Research papers are selected in a peer-review process by a committee of society members who build a coherent program with several thematic sessions.

A pay-as-you-go social evening is usually part of the weekend (discounts for students).

Meeting highlights include the annual AMS/Paterson Lecture, by a distinguished historian of medicine and the H.N. Segall Prize awarded to the best student paper.

Since 2005, CSHM has held an annual collective book launch reception as part of the annual meeting. Members are encouraged to celebrate books that they have published since the previous meeting. If you have a new book to celebrate, please contact the conference organizers.
