The Canadian Society for the History of Medicine meets once a year in conjunction with Congress of the Social Sciences and the Humanities. Meetings are usually two-and-a-half days, from a Friday to Sunday noon in late May or early June. Our 2007 meeting was Thursday to Saturday. For meeting sites since 1976 click here.
Research papers are selected in a peer-review process by a committee of society members who build a coherent program with several thematic sessions.
A pay-as-you-go social evening is usually part of the weekend (discounts for students).
Meeting highlights include the annual AMS/Paterson Lecture, by a distinguished historian of medicine and the H.N. Segall Prize awarded to the best student paper.
The next Canadian Society for the History of Medicine annual conference will be at the University of British Colombia in 2008, in conjunction with the Congress of Social Sciences and Humanities.
